Animal Organization of the Week

Farm Sanctuary

Instagram Post

Farm Sanctuary is a leading U.S.-based nonprofit organization founded in 1986, recognized as America's first shelter dedicated to farmed animals. It operates two main sanctuaries: a 275-acre farm in Watkins Glen, New York (in the Finger Lakes region, home to nearly 400 rescued animals), and a 39-acre site in Acton, California (near Los Angeles, home to over 100 rescued animals).

The organization's mission is to combat the exploitative practices of animal agriculture and its negative impacts on animals, the environment, public health, and social justice. They envision a world where the sanctuary model treating animals with respect and compassion, replaces exploitation entirely, ultimately fostering compassionate vegan living.
